BARISTA LIFE – EDINBURGH ROUNDTABLE

The Edinburgh coffee scene has evolved to become one of the most sophisticated in the country with many coffee shops and roasters in and around the city. Barista Life will be documenting common career paths for people working in specialty coffee and exploring what career opportunities exist.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society buys single casks of whisky direct from distillers. Like individual coffee lots, each cask has a distinct flavour profile. The Society serves these whiskies without reference to brand/distillery, so drinkers are free to see the influence of the production process of the spirit. Over its 30 year history, SMWS has become industry leaders at communicating flavour to consumers. This is a rare opportunity for baristas to enter a private members club and be exposed to new and inspiriting ways of communicating beverage flavour profiles.
